Capacitybuilders was established in 2006 to take over management of the ChangeUp programme.
The ChangeUp framework, published in 2004, set out a ten year vision for meeting the support and development needs of civil society organisations.
ChangeUp’s aim is that by 2014, frontline organisations will have access to support which is available nationwide, structured for maximum efficiency, offering excellent services that are accessible to all, truly reflecting and promoting diversity, and sustainably funded.
In 2007, Capacitybuilders published Destination 2014, which set out its approach to delivering the ChangeUp vision.
In 2008, Capacitybuilders commissioned an independent evaluation to measure the impact of ChangeUp to date. The evaluation, published in January 2010, concluded that ChangeUp has made a real difference
in the way in which local providers of support and advice worked together, and through that achieved better working relations with local government and delivered more effective support to frontline charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises.
While Capacitybuilders now delivers a wide range of programmes beyond the core ChangeUp funding programmes we inherited, we continue to be committed to the ChangeUp vision.
We understand that for frontline organisations to reach their potential, they need to have access to high quality support services, accessible at a local level. This remains a central focus for Capacitybuilders’ work.
