The consultation process on Destination 2014, which closes at the end of this month, has ensured that a wide range of voices from across the sector have had their say, feeding into the development of the strategic framework, which aims to identify the priorities Capacitybuilders should adopt to meet its vision and achieve its strategic objectives by 2014.

Transforming the Third Sector through ChangeUp

A programme of action designed to transform the effectiveness of the voluntary and community sector over the next ten years has been launched by Capacitybuilders, the agency charged with administering the ChangeUp programme.

The vision for ChangeUp is to see a ‘transformed voluntary and community sector by 2014’.

Driving forward change for voluntary and community organisations

Capacitybuilders’ Board, meeting on 22 November, committed itself to a programme of change in the future delivery of national support services to the voluntary and community sector and social enterprises.

The Board’s decision was in response to a package of proposals recommended by Simon Hebditch, Chief Executive, aimed at ensuring that Capacitybuilders is able to offer the sector a coherent and sensible approach to the future provision of national support services.

MP backs new investment in Edgbaston.

Birmingham MP Gisela Stuart has welcomed a major initiative based in the city which will give practical help to voluntary and community organisations. Gisela Stuart hosted a special briefing at the House of Commons on Monday 10 July where she and other MPs were briefed by Government Minister Ed Miliband and senior staff from the new organisation Capacitybuilders.

Capacitybuilders springs into action

Capacitybuilders was launched today at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Home Office, Paul Goggins MP, with over 280 representatives from the voluntary and community sector in attendance.

Capacitybuilders is a new agency which will work in partnership with government and other bodies to help voluntary and community organisations work more effectively. The agency - which is led by experts from the community and voluntary sector - will initially be funded from the Home Office.

Capacitybuilders all set for ICC ‘springboard’ launch

Capacitybuilders is set to launch on Monday 3rd April at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

The launch will be opened at 11am by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Home Office, Paul Goggins MP, and Deputy Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Mike Nangle will formally welcome Capacitybuilders to Birmingham.

The number of registrations for the event has exceeded all expectations for the Birmingham based Capacitybuilders team - with over 280 delegates registered from across the voluntary and community sector - a staggering 140 more than was originally hoped for.
